Improving Lives
Thanks to the community, Aloha United Way was able to help agencies do what they do best—serve as direct lines of support for more than 500,000 people in need by providing more than 400 services, programs for basic needs, job training, youth services and more.
Motivating People To Help Others
Through Volunteer Hawaii, a free online database listing volunteer opportunities statewide, Aloha United Way has been able to bring people and agencies together to build a stronger and healthier community.
Increasing Resources To Meet Needs
Through the generosity of 100,000 individuals and companies who chose to participate, Aloha United Way raised nearly $20 million in 2006 in our annual federal and non-federal employee campaigns.
Furthermore, through its system of matching donations and gifts-in-kind with agencies, Aloha United Way was able to further ensure that resources go where they are most needed.
Inspiring Solutions To Community Problems
There are thousands of health and human service agencies in the state and Aloha United Way continues to help people find the services they need through its information and referral service, 211. Aloha United Way uses its convening power and other resources to bring agencies and the community together to address pressing community issues in a collaborative way. This includes a focus on four key issues—family and individual self-sufficiency, early childhood development, crime and drug use and homelessness.
