YOUNG BUSINESS LEADER IS MAKING AN IMPACT ONE PROJECT AT THE TIME

(KAPOLEI, HI)—When it comes to holiday toy drives, many donations are purchased and/or donated to those 5 and under, often leaving those aged 7-17 without a gift.

That’s what A Time to Heal owner, Kara England, discovered when planning for a small project to collect toys for a homeless shelter this past holiday season.

To help ensure that all children receive items no matter what their age, she decided to enlist the assistance of fellow businesses and her clients to donate items that represented all age groups.

Furthermore, for monetary donations she also offered to match dollar for dollar (up to $500) to help purchase gift cards to assist these “gap kids” age group.

In addition, she even offered her customers a discount on her massage services for the donation of an unwrapped toy.

Businesses and her clients headed the call.  The Hallstrom Group (Honolulu), George Bertram of GNS Investments (San Francisco), Discover All Natural Health (Ewa Beach) and two churches in Alabama alongside A Time to Heal generously donated and matched monies totaling up to $1,280 which in turn resulted in fifty $25 gift cards for the homeless “gap” children.

“I’m so excited that my customers and business associates have exceeded my expectations and now, 128 underprivileged children in West Oahu will have toys and other items during the holiday season,” said Kara England, A Time to Heal Massage Therapy owner.

Items collected are being donated to two homeless shelters: Hope For A New Beginning (part of Waianae Community Outreach) and the Ohia Shelter (a program of Parents and Children Together).
