Free Tax Services and Help for Hawaiʻi Residents
Tax season can be stressful, but in Hawai’i, new laws mean more families will get money back if they file taxes for 2023 - even if not required to!
Here are some free programs to help:
VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
Open to all households that earn $66,000 or less (or $79,000 if you can file yourself)
Get Your Refund– Code for America
Simple tool for you to start a tax return and see how much money you can get back:

Tax Counseling for the Elderly
Free tax help, with a focus on those 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions on pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.

MilTax e-filing
Free software for service members, eligible family members, survivors and recent veterans up to 365 days from their separation or retirement date.
Goodwill - Free Tax services
Open to any household that earned $64,000 or less in 2023. In person appointments must be booked. Please do not walk in.
