Hawaiian Electric has published “Treasured Island Recipes: Celebrating 125 years serving Hawaiʻi,” a special anniversary edition cookbook compiled by employees as a fundraiser for Aloha United Way. The 288-page, soft cover, spiral bound collection is $14 and features more than 200 recipes from employees and their families, Hawaiian Electric recipe archives, and many of the company’s community and nonprofit partner organizations. Award-winning recipes from culinary students, a few local celebrity chefs, and a section on energy saving ideas for the home cook also are included.
All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will benefit more than 340 agencies supported by Aloha United Way that provide programs, services and resources to the community.
“About half the recipes came from nonprofit groups that we support and we’re grateful for their partnerships in strengthening our communities,” said Alan Oshima, president and CEO. “By highlighting these organizations, we draw attention to their valuable work while celebrating Hawaiʻi’s diverse food culture and our employees’ legacy of caring for our communities.”
